Born and brought up in Ahmedabad, Nilay has been passionate about telling stories ever since he was 6. Starting with writing short stories for family and friends to hear, he nurtured his skills and passion by creating several plays and short films during his schooling years. Simultaneously with studying Chartered Accountancy at the age of 19, he penned a Gujarati novel ‘Asammat’, a political thriller on the backdrop of Kashwarg, a heavenly valley inspired from Kashmir. In 2016, he went on to write and publish English version of the same book, ‘A Life To Die For’.

This was followed by ‘Kasar’, a play that portrayed a woman’s struggle with finding her own worth in a society where she is nobody unless she conforms to its pre-defined standards.

In 2020, he wrote, produced and directed ‘SIDES’, a Gujarati psychological thriller web series, that dealt with a man’s conflict of choosing a side from amongst two vastly divergent ones in an ideological war.

‘Jayshree Krishna’, a Gujarati film that he has co-written, is amongst his recent works.
